The light piano is a playable object and a trans-medial
musical instrument. The keys generate rays of light that
in turn are translated into sound by a special light-scanner
via sine-oscillators. The brightness defines the volume while
particular pitch depends on the spatial position of the lights.
Surrounding and ambient lighting influence the delicate
sounds of the light piano. The characteristics of the piano's
lights - dimmable, diffuse and dazzling - are determinant for
the instruments special tone colour.
